Modern Witch is another band to rise out of "drag"/"witchhouse" genre, among others like oOoOO, Balam Acab, and Zola Jesus (who all have had some amazing stuff come out this year). Playing like the score to a cheap '80s horror videogame (or something you'd hear in the fantasic 1983 movie The Hunger with David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve), Disaro and its sinister MIDI-like witchery has produced some of the best tracks of this year, including "Not the Only One" and the Velvet Underground-influenced "Can't Live in a Living Room."
